About Group:
If you're based in North West England or Manchester and interested in playing gaelic football with Oisin GAA club check our website for details.
The club was formed in 1904 from the Craobh Oisin Gaelic League Club which was at that time based in Gaythorn Manchester. The gaelic league club was involved in promoting music, song, and dance at that time. The formation of a gaelic football club was an extention to the promotion of all Irish cultural activities in the city.
The club had its home at No 7 Cheapside Manchester up until 1953/1954,at this point the Gaelic League club ceased to exist and the Oisin GAA club had no official headquarters , this situation was addressed in 1992 when they joined forces with Old Bedians Rugby and Soccer clubs, where a modern up-to-date clubhouse and playing facilities were built.
Over the years the Oisin GAA club has been know as a friendly, sporting and caring family club, providing for people of all ages to foster and promote all our great Irish customs and culture.
The club has promoted our native game at all levels from under 10 years to adult, enjoying many successes down through the years.
In 2004 the club celebrated its Centenary Year and published a Book on its history, entitled "An Sceal" Oisin GAA Club. A copy of the book is on display in the GAA Museum in Croke Park.
The club is grateful to the many great people who have been part of the club down through the years and wish the new generation of people every success in their continued promotion of our game and all our great Irish culture.

News Update:
Looking for a club in Manchester?
OisinCLG are currently looking for members of all ages and all standards both male and female.
The club was founded in 1904 and we field senior and junior teams in Lancashire competitions. We consistently challenge for the top honours at both levels, although silverware has been elusive in the past few seasons since the re-emergence of our rivals in Liverpool John Mitchels. We've enjoyed some very close encounters at both levels in the past two years, being piped by the minimum in a number of the finals. In 2008 they defeated us by a point in the Senior final, and then they progressed to the all-Ireland junior final. In 2009 after defeating them in the Pennine league, we unfortunately lost the Pennine League final, the Senior league final and the championship semi final in well contested games. Our Junior team has also lost out in 2008 and 2009 championship finals in hard fought matches. We are the last Manchester based club to win the Lancashire Championship in 2006. This year we aim to break their stranglehold and are looking for players to help us achieve that. We are represented by players from every province and most counties in Ireland.
We have a very successful underage structure in place and 2009 was a particularly good year with honours being won at Under 10's (League & Championship Winners), Under 12's (League & Championship Winners, All Britain Plate Champions), U14's (As a combined St Mary’s and Oisin team, League & Championship Winners, All Britain Runners Up).
We have developed a new ladies team in the area of Manchester in the absence of Emerald Gaels. 2009 was our inaugural year and we reached the Championship final in Warwickshire. This year we are working hand in hand with our close rivals John Mitchels of Liverpool to develop the game in Lancashire. We aim to have two new competitions up and running by April. These will include inviting teams from Ireland. We have a range of talented players from young English ladies who have never played before to ladies from Ireland who have played at county level. There is a positive vibe about the team and the ladies are more than hospitable to new comers of all ages.
The club also have a thriving social side. With in excess of forty likeminded young men and women within the club there is always something going on. The Irish always travel well and this is massively evident in the craic that is had between Oisin players and followers. There’s always someone willing to join you for a drink and anyone is more than welcome to come along.
If you are new to the area we have many contacts for both accommodation and work purposes.
We have excellent facilities at Old Bedians where our clubhouse and pitches are. We train under floodlights beginning in February, and welcome players of all standards. If you want to train with a team first before signing we'd be delighted to welcome you. Alternatively if you are looking for a club to train with while still playing back home you will be made very welcome.
There’s no need to wait. Get in touch now via phone or email.
