The All Ireland GAA football final was held in Croke Park, Dublin this past Sunday 20, Sept. The game was broadcast live @ 7:30 am at The Field Pub in the gaslamp. Those of us that got up early and made the trip-enjoyed the "craic" and the atmosphere-however the game itself was a bit of a disappointment, as it appeared the Cork team allowed itself to be intimidated by the "Aura & Mystique" that surrounds their opponents Kerry.
To this observer-the officials seemed also to be a wee bit impartial on the Kerry side. The very first tip-off of the game started with a Cork player lying flat on his back on the pitch after bieng hit with a elbow to the chin-it looked like a deliberate foul to everyone watching -except the official. Cork took an early lead with a goal-but it seemed that was to be the only highlight of the game for them-as they proceeded to shoot wide of the goal on several attempts throughout the game. At the final whistle the "Kingdom" had taken the Sam McGuire Cup beating the "Rebels" 0-16 to 1-09.
