How would you like to take part in the worlds largest fundraising event for childhood cancer research?

Your participation in the event on behalf of the St. Baldrick's Foundation could help save a child's life. Worldwide, 160,000 kids are diagnosed with cancer each year and despite tremendous progress, cancer remains the #1 disease killer of children in the U.S. and Canada.

Because these youngsters typically undergo treatment that causes their hair to fall out, brave volunteers have their heads shaved in public as a bold act of solidarity. These volunteers receive pledges of financial support from their friends and family, and in turn, their generous donations help fund life-saving research. Since its inception in 2000 (as a simple challenge among friends), St. Baldrick's has raised more than $50 million for the cause.

For those of you who may wish to donate hair without shaving your head, we will also be collecting hair donations (10" or longer) for Locks of Love, an organization that provides hairpieces to children suffering from hair loss as a result of treatment.

This years event will be held at The Happy Ending Bar and Restaurant, for what we hope is the first of many annual St. Baldrick's events. There will be food and drink specials, a hilarious emcee and special Hollywood guests in attendance.

I urge you to consider being a part of the day. The event will begin at 12 noon, so you can stop for an hour to say hello and grab some lunch or you can stay for the haul and enjoy the drink specials. Even if you can't donate your hair, your attending will help draw attention to the event and add more support.

While we hope you'll be able to join us, please consider a donation to the event or a particular shavee as they continue to register. Quite literally, every dollar counts, and if you don't have a few dollars to spare hopefully you can at least take a few minutes to share this invitation with a friend.
