The St. Patrick Society of the Quad Cities was founded in 1985 through the vision of a few Irish dreamers, namely Jeffrey Charles Collins, Francis Joseph Coyle Jr., Jerald Matt McCabe, Thomas Joseph McGinn, Daniel Patrick Reardon and Dennis Michael Walsh, with a desire to preserve, express, and promote their Irish heritage.
With their dream and the help of many others who subsequently joined the society, the St. Patrick Society has grown to be a prominent part of the community. It sponsors two major annual events: St. Patrick's Day celebrations, with the THE GRAND PARADE, the only interstate St. Patrick's Day parade in the USA, held in March, and QUAD CITIES IRISH FESTIVAL, the fund raiser for THE GRAND PARADE, held in September. These events are carefully planned by the society, bringing to the Quad City area entertainment that's outstanding and truly reflective of the Irish spirit.

The Society is a non-profit organization (501C3), and contributes to many charities, awards scholarships, and promotes various Irish cultural and musical events that occur throughout the year in the Quad City area. The Quad Cities area includes the cities of Davenport and Bettendorf in Iowa and Moline and Rock Island in Illinois plus several smaller communities.




Upcoming events:
Gathering of the Clan luncheon, March 12, 2010, 11:00 am, Col Ballroom, Davenport.

The 25th annual Grand Parade in honor of St. Patrick will step off at 11:30 am on March 13, 2010, 4th Avenue and 23rd Street, Rock Island.

Post parade Bash with live music, dancing and conviviality, immediately after the conclusion of the parade.

Future plans:
Irish Memorial Project: Fund raising and planning continues on the monument to the Irish immigrants who settled in the Quad Cities. The memorial will be located in downtown Davenport, with a dedication scheduled for Fall 2010.
