Founded in 1988, the D.C. Gaels are a sporting and social club, whose objective is to promote Irish culture and sport in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. The Gaels have both Ladies' and Men's Gaelic football teams and hurling and camogie teams who compete throughout the summer months, with an eye to qualifying for the North American Championships.

The Gaels compete in the Mid-Atlantic Division of the Gaelic Athletic Association's (GAA) North American County Board (NACB). The GAA, the ruling body for Gaelic games in Ireland, was founded in 1884 in Ireland as a way to maintain the Irish language and culture.

Games demonstration at the St. Patrick's Day 8K in Freedom Plaza on Sunday, March 15. Come check us out!

The DC Gaels will be participating in both the Alexandria St. Patrick's Day Parade on Saturday, March 7 and the DC St. Patrick's Day Parade on Sunday, March 15.

Open Field Days / Intro to the game and club: March 21 and 28 and April 4. Held on the National Mall. Exact location and times to be determined. Check our website for details.

The Ladies football team won the 2008 Ladies Junior A National Championships in Boston over Labor Day weekend.
